INSTALLATION

• Dry-Fitting: Before using mortar, dry-fit the tiles to visualize the pattern and layout. This step helps ensure proper placement and allows you to plan any necessary cuts, especially with tiles that have significant variations.

• Mortar Choice: To avoid altering the color of the tiles, use white thinset mortar. For a faster installation process, consider using rapid curing thinset mortar.

• Adhesive Application: Apply an amount of adhesive that can be used within 10-15 minutes to prevent drying out.

• Grout Joint Size: Ensure a minimum grout joint of 1/16" between the tiles, and avoid butt setting them directly together.

• Trowel Size: Use a 3/16" or 1/4" square-notch trowel when applying mortar to the marble. Before fixing the tiles, smooth out the ridges in the mortar bed with the flat side of the trowel.

GROUTING

• Non-Sanded Grout: To prevent scratching the natural stone, use non-sanded grout. Always test a small area before full application to ensure the stone surface won't scratch.

• Fill Grout Joints: Grout joints should be packed fully with no pits or voids. Clean excess grout immediately—do not let it fully harden.

• Avoid Acidic Cleaners: Never use acid-based cleaners to remove grout haze.

• Final Cleaning: Use a damp sponge for the final grout cleaning and to smooth the grout joints.

• Grout Release: We recommend applying grout release before grouting to make cleaning easier and prevent staining, particularly when using contrasting grout colors.

SEALING

• Sealing Post-Installation: After the tile has been installed and grouted, apply a high-quality breathable stone sealer to protect against water absorption, efflorescence, and staining.

• Color Enhancer (Optional): If desired, a color enhancer can be applied after grouting to bring out the natural hues of the stone.

• Resealing: You may need to reseal the tile as it darkens over time or when necessary for ongoing protection.

CUTTING

• Use Wet-Saw: For the best cuts, use a wet-saw equipped with a continuous rim diamond blade specifically designed for marble. Avoid using “turbo” or other notched blades meant for ceramic or porcelain, as these may result in coarse cuts or chipped edges.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

• Routine Cleaning: For everyday cleaning, use a few drops of neutral cleaner, stone soap, or mild dishwashing detergent with warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth to prevent streaking.

• Avoid Acidic and Abrasive Cleaners: When cleaning marble or limestone, avoid products containing lemon, vinegar, or other acids, and steer clear of any abrasive cleaners that may scratch the surface.
