Granite is a type of igneous rock that is formed from the slow crystallization of molten magma deep within the Earth's crust. It is composed mainly of quartz and feldspar, with other minerals present in smaller quantities.
Granite tiles have a wide range of uses due to their durability, versatility, and aesthetic appeal. Here are some common applications for granite tiles:
It's worth noting that while granite tiles offer numerous advantages, they require proper installation and regular maintenance to ensure their longevity and beauty.
Granite is renowned for its exceptional durability, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic areas like floors. It is highly resistant to scratches, stains, and heat, which means it can withstand the wear and tear of daily use. Granite tiles are also resistant to moisture, making them suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, and other areas prone to water exposure.
Granite tiles have a naturally textured surface, providing good traction and making them slip-resistant. The level of texture can vary depending on the finish applied to the tile. Common finishes include polished (smooth and glossy), honed (matte and smooth), and flamed (rough and textured).
Granite floor tiles are relatively low-maintenance. Regular sweeping or vacuuming, along with occasional mopping using a neutral pH cleaner, is usually sufficient to keep them clean. Sealing the tiles is recommended to enhance their stain resistance and protect against any absorption.
Granite floor tiles are typically installed using thin-set or adhesive, ensuring a strong bond to the subfloor. The tiles come in various sizes, ranging from small mosaic tiles to larger formats, allowing for different design possibilities.
