MATERIAL INSPECTION

Our stones are natural products, and as such, there will be naturally occurring variations in color, pattern, texture, and veining, which may differ from what was pictured. Before beginning installation, inspect the goods for any damage or defects, such as chipped edges or broken pieces. Please note that we cannot make any adjustments or provide service once installation has begun.

INSTALLATION

We recommend that you dry-fit your pattern first. Plan your cuts in advance and visualize the installation. Practicing the layout will help you plan the placement of pieces, particularly important with tiles that have a lot of variation.

To avoid affecting the color of the tile, we highly recommend using white thinset mortar. For a faster installation, use rapid-curing thinset mortar.

• Apply only as much adhesive as can be covered within 10-15 minutes.
• Grout joints should be a minimum of 1/16” and not butt-set.
• Use a 3/16" or 1/4" square notch trowel when installing our marble material.
• Prior to fixing the tiles into the mortar bed, use the flat side of the trowel to smooth down the ridges.

GROUTING

For all-natural stone, we recommend using non-sanded grout to prevent scratching.

• Before grouting, test a small area to ensure the stone surface will not scratch.
• Grout joints should be packed full, with no pits or voids.
• Clean excess grout as you work and avoid letting it harden completely.
• Never use acids to clean grout haze.
• Use a damp sponge for the final cleaning and to smooth out grout joints.
• We highly recommend applying grout release before grouting to facilitate cleaning and protect against staining from contrasting color grouts.

SEALING

After installation and grouting, seal the stone with an appropriate, high-quality breathable stone sealer. This will reduce the risk of water absorption, efflorescence, and staining. If desired, a color enhancer may be applied after grouting to bring out the stone’s true color. You may choose to reseal the stone whenever it darkens or as needed.

CUTTING

For the best results, use a wet-saw with a new, continuous rim diamond blade designed to cut marble. Avoid using “turbo” or notched blades designed for porcelain or ceramic, as they can lead to coarse cuts and chipped edges.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

For normal care and maintenance of stone tiles, clean the surfaces with a few drops of neutral cleaner, stone soap, or a mild liquid dishwashing detergent mixed with warm water. Rinse the surface thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth after washing to avoid streaks or film.

• Avoid using too much cleaner or soap to prevent buildup.
• When cleaning marble or limestone, do not use products containing lemon, vinegar, or other acids.
• Avoid using abrasive cleaners.
